The Universidad Popular de Castellar de Santiago launches a new course with the "Lynx Territories" exhibition
2017-10-09
For the opening of the new Universidad Popular de Castellar de Santiago cycle, we offer the "Lynx Territories" exhibition to the municipality in Castilla-la-Mancha, in the eastern Sierra Morena region, south of the Ciudad Real province.
Those visiting the Hall of the Universidad Popular from October 9th to the 19th, 2017, will have the chance to enjoy the exhibition.
As we mentioned before, the exhibition offers a graphic illustration of the Iberian lynx’s biology and needs, the reintroduction areas where the transnational project is being implemented; collects visual depictions of the most important areas of historical and current populations to promote their recovery (stable territories and corridors that allow for different populations to interconnect); it details the threats the species is facing and actions carried out for its support and recovery within the Life+IBERLINCE Project (passageways, signs, rabbit repopulation to ensure food, and establishment of specimens; monitoring: surveillance, location and health status of reintroduced animals as well as of those born in the wild), and all this to sensitize and raise awareness among visitors regarding the species’ circumstance of special vulnerability, catalogued as endangered, by making it know that this is the most threatened feline on the planet, as well as an emblematic and unique species.
We hope that all visitors enjoy it, and we take the opportunity to thank the Hon. Local Government of Castellar de Santiago and the Universidad Popular for the goodwill and interest they’ve always shown toward the Life+IBERLINCE Project.
