Lynxes run over on the EX-105 (Badajoz) and the A-4 (Jaén)

Yesterday afternoon, February 22^nd, agents of the SEPRONA civil guard located the body of an Iberian lynx specimen on the EX-105 motorway, in the segment connecting Don Benito and Guareña, at kilometre 13.

Life+IBERLINCE project staff confirmed that it was a male, released in January 2018 in the Matachel Valley.

The body has been transferred to the "Los Hornos" Wildlife Recovery Centre in Sierra de Fuentes, of the General Directorate and Environment, to carry out the respective autopsy.

In addition, on Friday morning, February 23^rd, technicians of the Ministry of Environment and Territorial Planning attached to the Life+Iberlince program were notified by A-4 maintenance personnel regarding the discovery of an Iberian lynx corpse at kilometre 265,3 within the La Carolina municipality (Jaén).

The corpse is in poor state but it seems to be an unidentified subadult individual. He was moved to the Wildlife Analysis and Diagnosis Centre (CAD) of the Regional Government of Andalusia where the necropsy will be performed.
