Public Works and Transport bids for the implementation of a fauna passage at km 305.6 of the A-4 motorway

With the aim of preventing road collisions with Iberian lynxes and maintaining road safety, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport bid today for the "Implementation of a wildlife passage at kilometre 305,690 of the A-4 motorway and other road safety measures associated with the surrounding fauna. Province of Jaén ", with a tender budget of € 1.95 million, as announced by the Official State Gazette (BOE).
This operation falls within the framework of the Collaboration Agreement signed on December 22nd, 2017, between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Regional Government of Andalusia, which ensures collaboration in the accomplishment of the Life Project "Recovery of the historical distribution of Iberian lynx in Spain and Portugal
The following operations will be carried out:
- Replacement of the cross-drainage works at kilometre 305 + 690 of the A-4 motorway by a multifunctional underpass consisting of a two-cell frame, 6.00 metres wide and 2.50 metres high, equipped with dry edges.
- Wooden walkway for the fauna passage, on the west bank of the Rumblar River, under the structure of the A-4 at kilometre 302
- Implementation of dry edges in the existing cross-drainage works at kilometres 311 + 900 and 314 + 900 of the A-4.
- Installation of a 23,000 metre enclosure, 2.00 metres high with a 0.50 metre visor tilted 45 degrees outwardly on the A-4 motorway, approximately between kilometres 289 and 313.
- Denaturation measures, by pruning bushy clumps alongside the A-4 motorway and its central divider, approximately between kilometres 300 and 312.
