A female Iberian lynx was found dead in Valencia de las Torres
2018-04-16
The Ministry of Natural and Rural Environment, Territory and Agricultural Policies of the Government of Extremadura reported that one of the lynxes released in Extremadura in 2018 was found dead by Life+Iberlince project specialists on Thursday, April 12th, in the Valencia de las Torres municipality, in Badajoz.
It was a radiolabelled female from the Granadilla Breeding Centre, released in February in Matachel (Badajoz).
Once the Iberian Lynx Emergency Plan of the Directorate General for the Environment and the SEPRONA Civil Guard was activated, the body was retrieved and transferred to the Los Hornos Wildlife Recovery Centre in Sierra de Fuentes, where the necropsy was performed. Preliminary results have ruled out trauma, so we must wait for other test results that determine the cause of death.
