2018-04-17
The Life+Iberlince project 'Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx in Spain and Portugal', through the Autonomous Organization of National Parks (OAPN) as a beneficiary partner of the European project, organized conferences with a group of journalists from different national media in the Matachel Valley reintroduction area (Extremadura) with the aim of making the field actions carried out in the area by the project known to these professionals.
During the first day - which took place yesterday - the participants attended a talk with Life+Iberlince project director Miguel Ángel Simón, who analysed the results of the latest Iberian lynx population census; the species’ main threats at present; as well as future actions, aimed at ensuring connection between populations in different areas throughout the Peninsula. After the talk, a panel discussion took place where it was possible to exchange views with Simón, as well as with some of the specialists working in the area.
During the second conference, which will take place throughout the morning, they will visit nearby sites where actions were carried out by the project, thus, gain a more comprehensive perspective of the Life+Iberlince project at the time of report.
