Iberlince participates in the 2nd National Agro-Pastoral Fair of Estados del Duque
2018-05-30
The Life Iberlince project 'Recovery of the historical distribution of the Iberian lynx in Spain and Portugal' will be present at the 2nd National Agro-Pastoral Fair of Estados del Duque (FERDUQUE), which will be held from 1st to 5th of June in Porzuna (Ciudad Real), and include the itinerant exhibition 'Lynx Territories'. It will allow visitors to learn about the project’s development and how it can benefit the area’s rural development.
Contests, exhibitions, tastings and conferences will be some of the event’s ingredients aimed at all audiences. The event will take place in an area stretching over 70,000 square meters, and will place agriculture and livestock as the hallmarks of the Estados del Duque region, and praise rural strength. The itinerant Fair will showcase the sector, serve as a meeting point for all professionals, and become one of the main tourist attractions of a captivating territory for its enormous landscape, cultural and gastronomic potential.
After the first edition’s success, FERDUQUE returns this year with the challenge of surpassing 2017 figures and placing the Estados del Duque region on Spain’s tourism, agricultural and livestock map. On this occasion, FERDUQUE will coincide with Porzuna’s Fiesta de Corpus Christi, declared a Festival of Cultural and Regional Tourist Interest.
The Life+Iberlince project is a transnational program with European funding, involving two countries (Spain and Portugal) and four autonomous communities (Andalusia, coordinator of the project; Extremadura; Murcia; and Castilla-La Mancha). A total of 22 partners are distributed over the different work areas.
In Castilla-La Mancha specifically there are five partners involved in the development of the lynx reintroduction project: the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development, heading the activities, Aproca, WWF and FOMECAM.
Iberlince invites citizens to visit and participate in the fair, and learn about how the Iberian lynx reintroduction program has been carried out in the species’ former territories in the Iberian Peninsula.
