Two new Iberian Lynx are released in “Montes de Toledo”

Two new specimens of Iberian Lynx, Keres e Jabillo, both bred in captivity, were released today in a pre-adaptation fenced area, on a property in Mazarambroz (Toledo), under the Life-Iberlince program, which operates in the reintroduction of this species in endemic areas.
With the release of Keres and Jabillo, are already seven the released Lynx in Montes de Toledo, which will join in the next week, Karma, a female from the reproduction center in captivity of Acebuche (Huelva).
The new Lynx released today in Mazarambroz, are from de Reproduction centers in captivity of Zarza de Granadilla (Cáceres) and Olivilla (Jaén).
The release method used was the “soft release”, it means that the Lynx are initially released into a specialized fenced area, from which shall be finally released in the territories.
Keres e Jabillo get in to the fenced area, after yesterday, the time when the doors get open to release other two specimens, named Kendo and Kea, that were placed there a few weeks ago, coming from the reproduction in captivity centers of Silves and Zarza de Granadilla.
The first three Iberian Lynx that were released in the Montes de Toledo and passed without any problema the adjustment period were: Kentaro, Kahn and Kuna.
In total, so far, have been released four males and three females, and next week is expected to be released the fourth female.
The release in Montes Toledo, began last November, after the first reintroduction of the specie in Castilla-La Mancha, in eastern Sierra Morena, last summer, where were released other specimens.
